Pursuant to legislation, in the case of officially sent EDI invoices those must also be archived electronically according to the applicable statutory requirements, which are different for the electronic archiving of EDI invoices than for electronically signed e-invoices. The archiving of EDI invoices does not require certificate-based authentication. In legal respects, the following functions must be realised for the archiving of EDI invoices:
- precisely definable date and time of archiving
- in addition to the EDI message format, storage of and access to the readable pdf and XML formats
- management of monthly invoice summaries
- providing access to monthly invoice summaries and to invoice formats
These can be set up both through a service provider or with proprietary EDI.
