The planning of EDI usually means the interpretation of EDI documents received from the partner. These documents either arrive together with the request for the implementation of EDI or must be obtained from the buyer or manufacturer who is requesting the implementation of EDI. The following documents are necessary for the implementation of EDI:
Communication Consultation Sheets (EDI Datasheet, EDI Form, Kontaktblatt, etc.)
This documentation describes the communication protocol that the partner wishes to use for establishing EDI communication. These documents are interpreted by the service provider.
Message Implementation Guideline
In the Message Implementation Guideline the partner describes the message types and formats they wish to use for data exchange with their supplier. Similarly to the Communication Data Sheet these documents are interpreted by the service provider, if they are also providing EDI conversion.
EDI Partnership Agreement
The third group of documents, on the other hand, concerns the company that is implementing EDI, as these are the documents in which they enter into an agreement with their partner. The EDI Partnership Agreement also contains technical appendices. The service provider can assist in filling in these appendices, but in most cases the contract is signed between the company and its partners.
